Truth or Dare Generator, Random Party Game Prompts
Get random truth questions and dare challenges for parties. Hundreds of prompts
Truth Or Dare Generator
Get a random truth question or dare challenge with one click. The generator contains hundreds of handpicked prompts ranging from lighthearted and silly to more revealing (but always respectful). Choose "Truth" for a question the player must answer honestly, or "Dare" for a challenge they must attempt. Truth or Dare is one of the most enduring party games because it reveals personality, creates shared memories, and pushes people just outside their comfort zone. The digital version solves the biggest problem with playing traditionally: running out of good prompts. After 20 minutes, most groups start recycling boring questions. This generator has enough unique prompts to keep a party going for hours. All prompts are designed to be appropriate for teen and adult groups. The truths encourage genuine sharing without crossing into uncomfortable territory. The dares are challenging enough to be entertaining but never dangerous or humiliating. The random selection ensures variety, you won\'t see the same prompt twice until you\'ve cycled through dozens.
How it works
The tool maintains two separate arrays: one for truth questions and one for dare challenges. When you tap "Truth" or "Dare," a random index is generated using Math.random() to select a prompt from the corresponding array. The prompt appears with a slide-in animation. A history of recent prompts is tracked to avoid immediate repeats during a single session, though with hundreds of prompts per category, repetition is rare.
When to use this tool
House party hosts use it to run Truth or Dare without someone having to come up with prompts on the spot. Sleepover groups play on a shared phone, passing it around the circle. College dorm residents use it for floor bonding events. Team-building facilitators adapt the prompts for office-appropriate icebreaker activities. Camp counselors use it for evening group games. Bachelorette party organizers use it for pre-wedding celebrations.
Frequently asked questions
Are the prompts appropriate for all ages?
The prompts are designed for teens and adults. They are revealing and sometimes silly, but never sexual, violent, or genuinely embarrassing. For younger children, parental review of the prompts is recommended, some truth questions involve topics like crushes or embarrassing moments.
How many truth and dare prompts are available?
The database contains over 100 truth questions and over 100 dare challenges. With random selection from this pool, even a multi-hour game session will encounter very few repeats.
Can I play with just 2 people?
Yes. Truth or Dare works with any number of players from 2 upward. Two-player games actually work well because the alternation between truth and dare stays dynamic. Each player picks truth or dare on their turn, then the generator provides the prompt.
Can I add my own custom prompts?
The current version uses the built-in prompt database. For custom prompts, type them into the random choice tool and pick randomly from your own list.
What if someone refuses a truth or dare?
House rules vary. Common alternatives: the refuser must do the opposite (a truth instead of dare or vice versa), take a penalty (like an extra dare next turn), or pass once per game. The important thing is agreeing on the rule before starting.
